Team Hocking
Our work has always been rooted in the landscape, yet over time our gaze has shifted from the sweeping vista to the more intimate details that are so often overlooked. We are drawn to the quiet abstractions of nature, the subtle play of light on surfaces, and the fragments of form that invite pause and reflection.
As our practice has evolved, so too has our way of working. No longer carrying the burden of heavy equipment into remote places, we now embrace a more fluid and responsive approach — discovering still life in everyday settings, abstraction in the street, and a different kind of beauty in the ordinary.
Our photography is shaped by a philosophy of simplicity and restraint, deeply influenced by Japanese art and culture, where atmosphere, transience, and suggestion are valued as highly as form. We strive for images that are contemplative, meditative, and quietly expressive — photographs that invite the viewer to linger and discover what lies beneath the surface.
Our work has been exhibited internationally, including in the UK and South Africa, and has been published in a sell-out book. These exhibitions and publications highlight a body of work that is firmly rooted in the tradition of fine art photography, known for its high quality, subtle intensity, and reflective character.
At its essence, our practice is about seeing differently — finding poetry in overlooked moments, and offering images that speak not only of the external world, but also of the inner landscapes of memory, mood, and imagination. Through our work, we offer the viewer a moment of harmony and stillness — a visual meditation on presence, nature, and joy.
