HIGHLY COMMENDED - USA LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

7th October 2015

Denis has been informed that one of the three pictures he submitted to the USA Landsacpe Photographer of the Year, 2015, has been classified as "Highly Commended" in the "Classic View" category. The picture, titled "Bison, All Alone in Yellowstone", was captured in February 2015 in Yellowstone National Park.

HIGHLY COMMENDED - USA LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

His inspiration came from the environment itself which, in February, was truly amazing; the steam from the hot springs, the hoar frost on the trees, virgin snow and, to cap it all, a herd of bison. He composed the shot with the herd of bison out of shot on the right hand side and, as he waited, they started to move from right to left across the frame; very slowly! At the back of the herd was a lone straggler and the shot started to come together. As the straggler reached the gap in the trees it stopped, as if posing, and he took advantage of it's isolation.

The judges for the competition were industry masters including Charlie Waite, Justin Reznick, Marc Adamus, Art Wolfe, David Meunch, Antony Spencer.

We are pleased, proud and humbled by the fact that this picture, in the eyes of the judges, was chosen for a commendation.
